They approach the learning process making it like a game, easy and fun.

This app divides the lessons into units, every lesson is a game, every time you complete a lesson you win points, and every time you respond incorrectly you lose life points. 

There are two types of plans with this app: BASIC and PLUS:

With the BASIC plan, you get unlimited access to your lessons but you have ads, you cannot use it offline, and there’s a limit of mistakes you can have until you run out of lives and you have to wait, also you cannot check your progress.

With the PLUS subscription, you get unlimited access to your lessons but you also have no ads, you can also use it offline, you can have mistakes without running out of lives, and you can check your current progress. This subscription is free the first week and then it costs $6.99/ month.

BABBEL

This app is simple and intuitive, it helps you learn several languages including Spanish, to get started you have to choose your age, native language, the language you’re wanting to learn, and respond a few questions including your current level in that language, if you’re not sure about it there’s a test you can take.

Also, you can pick the subjects you like or need the most so you learn what is going to actually be useful for you. 

You can also choose how many minutes a day you want to dedicate to the app.

At every level, there are different lessons with multiple subjects that you can pick, in which you can learn pronunciation and the main grammar rules of the language you’re learning. 

You can also use it offline, and download lessons in the app.

There’s an option to check your current progress and the things you should practice and put more emphasis on.

BUSUU

In Busuu the main course is divided into several lessons in which you can learn and practice the main grammar concepts, you can also practice your comprehension of the spoken language and several other exercises.

You can exchange knowledge with the other students and help each other through the app.

The subscription plans are:

FREE: It has several limitations compared with the other types of subscriptions but is decent enough if you’re using the app just to practice vocabulary with flashcards.

PREMIUM: This kind allows you to practice with native speakers of the language, you can use it offline, you get grammar lessons and vocabulary exercise.

The cons are that you have a limit of languages that you can learn, you don’t get any kind of certificate and the study plans are not personalized. 

You get this plan at 5.83 euros/ month.

PREMIUM PLUS: It comes with a personalized study plan, you can learn up to 12 languages, you get a certificate, you can use it offline and get to practice with native speakers, it has grammar lessons and vocabulary exercises.

This plan costs 6.66 euros/ month.

PIMSLEUR

This app uses an audio-based learning system, it presents phrases in the language you want to learn first, and then in your mother language, it comes in lessons of 30 minutes per day.

You get to hear phrases and words with a native pronunciation, in which they give you a hypothetical situation and a conversation and then you get to hear it in your native language.

They give you the first week free and afterward is $14.95/ month.

HI NATIVE

With this app, you can talk with native speakers, ask them questions about the language, get quick translations, correct documents, learn phrases, and know their culture. You can respond to questions in your language or the one you’re learning and share your knowledge with a community that also wants to learn.

There are two types of subscription plans:

PREMIUM: You can bookmark questions and answers, you get your phrases corrected by native speakers, your questions will be prioritized over others, you get unlimited access to the translation tool, replay voice and video answers posted by other users, browse bookmarks, receive notifications from bookmarked questions, you can also look up your bookmarks and questions, you have no ads, and you can order the results by reliability.

Prices are $59.63/12 months (it would be $4.96/month), or $5.58 monthly and you get the first week for free.

FREE: You can bookmark questions and answers, the rest is not available in the free version.

MEMRISE

This app is quite similar to Duolingo, it offers you the possibility to also practice with different native speakers accents.

The basic content and courses are free, but the advanced options require a subscription in order to unblock all the courses, languages, and modes.

The prices vary from $8.99/month to $7.50/month if you subscribe for a year or $139.99 for a lifetime subscription.

TANDEM

It’s a practical way of learning in which you chose the language that you want to study and afterward you get paired with a person from around the world that wants to learn your language. 

The session time is divided into two so both can learn, practice, and teach each other.

Before starting every session a subject has to be chosen in order to start.

The app also has a translation tool, emojis, images, etc, to make it easier to communicate with the other person. 

This is all included with the free version or you can get a subscription in which you can also get access to unlimited translations, you can see who viewed your profile, connect with members nearby using the near me tool, you get to be seen first at the top of the community stream, search for members in a specific city near you and also remove all the ads.

The subscriptions are $6.99/ month, $3.99/month if you subscribe for three months or $2.92/month if your subscription is for one year.
