I have been teaching adults of all ages and levels and from 2015 to students over 50s in the UK. Subjects that interested me: prevention of some neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's by learning a new language. From 2017 I work marking IGSCE Spanish Literature scripts.

Interests: Learning languages, yoga, drawing, sustainability, cooking.

What Are My Lessons Like?

What curriculum do you follow?

I combine the Cambridge international curriculum with Instituto Cervantes “Marco Europeo”, a flexible, challenging, and inspiring curriculum where students develop curiosity and passion for learning. They also acquire the vital skills to succeed in real language situations.

How do you plan lessons?

I plan lessons with the idea in mind that the student will live the Spanish language and will be fully immersed in it. I support the student to develop the following skills: creative thinking, enquire, and problem-solving.

How do you measure progress?

I measure progress with daily class activities and always give positive feedback to the student at the end of the class regarding how the activity was performed: satisfactory/unsatisfactory. So, the student can go back and review those activities on his/her own and be prepared for the next lesson, as we are building up concepts, and it requires a good foundation to level up. We, the student, and I as a language coach, celebrate together every single achievement because every single step counts!

What materials/tools do you use?

The most remarkable material/tools I use come from Instituto Cervantes books recommendations, Cambridge University Press, and all types of realia such as Spanish TV, radio, magazine online platforms, Consejeria de Educación platform, virtual museums, virtual cities, Comunidad de Madrid bilingual tourist leisure activities, etc but…whatever material I choose I involve the student through storytelling and theatre dialogue and movement (TPR) to make him/her a big picture of how is to be in real scenarios and live Spanish!

How can you help students with their long-term goals?

I create a nice, relaxing, and secure environment to learn Spanish by applying emotional intelligence competencies, providing material, and coaching support to the student in all his/her learning language processes. First meeting week with the student is key to lay the foundations from where he/she is and what he/she wants to achieve. Having clear student goals, we work through short-term goals, mutual class planning, and possible plan implementations if required. I review lesson plan structures if I see it is not as satisfactory as we had initially planned and finally, we adopt another type of planning that suits more to the student.

As long or as short as you like. Learn a few new words with us or get quick answers to your questions.

Are you going to try to sell me on something?

We can help you find a tutor to help you with pronunciation, or become more fluent in the language you’re learning. We are also OK with just talking to you and practicing a bit of Spanish or English together.
