What are my Lessons Like?

What curriculum do you follow?

As I follow a scheme from ELE curriculum of Institute Cervantes and SM Education. However, I change some items according to the progress of the student and their interests.

How do you plan lessons?

As I said before, I take into mind the radiography of the student, then I start my class with a little warming up to engage the student to be interested in learning the lesson (2 – 8 minutes). Next, I introduce the class with a communicative scenario “topic” which allows the student to contextualize the language, and after that, I show an exercise the student should develop. When I explain the exercise I try to exemplify how I want the student to attain the knowledge, but according to their necessities and skills. In the end, I offer feedback in order to solve all kinds of questions that could emerge.

How do you measure progress?

Assessment is essential in learning, so I use rubrics focused on standard according to their level. I think it is easier to evaluate their progress in a specific moment of the progress (e.g. every 4 weeks) but in my opinion, the evaluation is formative and every class I evaluate his/her progress through observation and feedback.

What materials/tools do you use?

I use several multimedia and interactive online games and presentations (PPT and Prezi).

How can you help students with their long-term goals?

Everything depends on their motivation, time to study, and learning skills. So, I set objectives at the beginning of the class and modify them with the student if it is necessary.
