Ingrid De la Barrera Pagaza – Special Needs Spanish Tutor

Hello I'm Ingrid, I’m 36 years old, and I’m from Mexico. I'm a special education teacher with a specialization in speech and language pathologies. I hold a master’s degree in neuropsychological diagnosis and intervention. Here in Mexico in my practice I have more than 13 years of experience working with children with several special needs: developmental disorders such as Autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, intellectual disability, language delays, speech disorders like apraxia, learning disabilities like dyslexia, dyscalculia etc. I also work with adults that have had stroke or neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's or dementia. In 2012, I obtained a diploma from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México to teach Spanish as a foreign language. Since then, I have combined my main work as a neuropsychologist with being a Spanish teacher. I have taught Spanish in person to children, adolescents, and adults in Mexico and in France. I have experience online teaching Spanish with American, German, Swiss, French, Russian, and Australian students. My classes are communicatively orientated. The lessons with children are a mixture between therapy and language lessons, I mostly use tales, games to keep them interested, and to work language as a whole. Many of them have achieved to get inserted into different private schools in Mexico. With adolescents and adults, I normally use books and a great variety of audiovisual materials to practice the four spheres (reading, writing, oral, and written expression). All my lessons are prepared and focused on my student's interests and needs.
