What Are My Lessons Like?

What curriculum do you follow?

The curriculum that I follow is based on the ELE structure, designed in levels A1, A2, B1,B2, C1, and C2. Of course, the information is adapted to each student, based on their background, their interests, if they have previous knowledge and goals, this is why classes are unique to each student. The class includes conversation, grammatical structure, reading and listening comprehension, writing, and vocabulary, emphasizing the student’s area of interest.

How do you plan lessons?

The curriculum has a base structure in the progress of the levels, this only makes it orderly but is very open regarding the interests of the student, the classes are planned in advance and are sequenced, materials are also included to reinforce the information, vocabulary, conversation and everything in an environment that aims at comprehensive learning.

How do you measure progress?

There are several ways to measure progress, this is because the plan has a well-formed structure, we always have objectives in each lesson, and it is possible to experience progress in pronunciation, vocabulary, conversation, and comprehension, this depends on each student, but it is always achievable.  Another option is to provide the student with an evaluation at the beginning of classes and from there to check their achievements.

What materials/tools do you use?

Our first material will be laughter, so we release endorphins, the student relaxes and we both enjoy the class, then it is very important to discover the type of intelligence that predominates in the students, this means that the choice of materials will be to catch their attention, this will help us because the information will be easily retained, I basically use support materials in everything to capture the interest of the student, I have my own classifications by the level of short videos, songs, movies, series, comics, TED talks, grammar books, and reading, games, homework, reflections, presentations, and exercises.

How can you help students with their long-term goals?

Long-term goals are being achieved because in each class and level we have short and medium-term goals as well. Implicit in the student-teacher relationship is teamwork, the teacher has the commitment and ability to provide information, and the student develops the ability to retain the information, practice it, and use it. Personally, watching the progress of my students makes me proud.
