Without a doubt, tongue twisters represent one of the most popular and educational games to practice Spanish with children.

Tongue twisters are composed of phrases in which words appear with reiterative syllables, difficult to pronounce, tongue twisters aim to be able to say them clearly and quickly, increasing the speed without stopping to pronounce any of the words, or making mistakes. Besides being an entertaining and amusing activity, they stimulate memory and hearing and are useful to acquire the speed of speech, with precision and without making mistakes.

I use tongue twisters in my lessons to improve my students’ pronunciation and articulation.

Benefits of Practicing Tongue Twisters:

  • Challenging for children: Difficulty varies by age, but having to pronounce a large number of similar words without making a mistake is more challenging than a traditional pronunciation exercise.
  • Help with speech and pronunciation problems: Thanks to the cognitive redirection that is produced when exercising the brain through these word games, studies in the field have made clear the obvious Benefit of this type of stimulation exercise for children who have problems with reading fluently in public.
  • They are fun: The tongue twisters for primary school children that you will find here are designed especially for children. Their structure and design make the tongue twisters a perfect exercise for working at home, in the classroom, or from a cell phone on the way to the dentist. It is an enjoyable exercise that produces significant changes that are satisfactory and beneficial to children, whether or not they have difficulty reading.

So if your children are learning a new language, such as Spanish, you can use a compilation that I made and print out the tongue twisters in Spanish PDF so that you can work and teach the richness of language and help them to positively prosper on their educational and learning path:

Tongue twisters often get nonsensical when translated to another language and they can also lose their purpose for this reason so don’t get surprised if the English translations of the Spanish tongue twisters you see here don’t make much sense.
